My name is Monica Pearce. I am originally from West Columbia, Tx (60 miles south of Houston, think ocean). I grew marroon and white as a Columbia Roughneck. From high school I went on to attend college at THE BEST UNIVERSITY IN TEXAS, TARLETON STATE UNIVERSITY, in Stephenville,Tx. There I earned a BS in Speech Communications, teacher certification and a Master in Education Administration. I bleed purple!
I’ve been married to my amazing husband for 13 years, and we are blessed to have a son, Gunnar. Gunnar is a Kindergartener at White Oak Primary this year. My husband and I are 3rd generation teachers/coaches. We like to think we’ve carried on the family business. Together we have coached and taught from one end of I-20 to the other. We started in Stamford High School in Stamford, TX. From there we coached and taught at Permian High School in Odessa, Tx; made a brief stop at Pilot Point High School in Pilot Point, Tx, and we’ve been at Longview High School in Longview, Tx for the last 8 years. While I have moved on to one of the best school districts in East Texas (White Oak High School), my husband remains in his position as Defensive Coordinator at Longview High School.
I love football, track, weightlifting, kayak fishing, hunting and cooking. My husband son and I are very active and enjoying being out doors.
However, my true passions are teaching and kids. I absolutely love what I do for a living. There is nothing better than watching a student surprise themselves by their own abilities be it academic or athletic. I know that The Lord called me to teaching.
If there is one thing you need to know about me, please know this: I believe every student has the ability to learn, and I know that ALL students are capable of more than they ever imagined. I care about my students. My expectations are high as is my love and concern for my students. Once you walk through my classroom door you are my student. I will often say, “I love you and there is nothing you can do about it.”
