Here’s a few things about me!

My name is Monica Pearce. I am originally from West Columbia, Tx (60 miles south of Houston, think ocean). I grew maroon and white as a Columbia Roughneck. From high school I went on to attend college at THE BEST UNIVERSITY IN TEXAS, TARLETON STATE UNIVERSITY, in Stephenville,Tx. There I earned a BS in Speech Communications, teacher certification and a Master in Education Administration. I bleed purple! While I will bleed purple forever, I completed my School Counseling certification from Angelo State University in San Angelo,TX. Great school! Great opportunities both on campus and online.

I’ve been married to my amazing husband for 16 years, and we are blessed to have a son, Gunnar. Gunnar is a 2nd grader at White Oak Primary this year. My husband and I are 3rd & 4th generation teachers/coaches. We like to think we’ve carried on the family business. Together we have coached and taught from one end of I-20 to the other. We started at Stamford High School in Stamford, TX. From there we coached and taught at Permian High School in Odessa, Tx; made a brief stop at Pilot Point High School in Pilot Point, Tx, and we were together at Longview High School in Longview, Tx for the 8 years.  While I have been at of the best school districts in East Texas for the last 3 years (White Oak High School), my husband remains in his position as Defensive Coordinator and Head Girls & Boys Track Coach at Longview High School.

I love football, track, weightlifting, kayak fishing, hunting and cooking. My husband, son and I are very active and enjoying being out doors.

However, my true passions are education and kids. I absolutely love what I do for a living. There is nothing better than watching a student surprise themselves by their own abilities be it academic or athletic. I know that The Lord called me into education. That being said, after 17 AMAZING years in the classroom, I have taken on a new role as a Counselor here at WOHS.

If there is one thing you need to know about me, please know this: I believe every student has the ability to learn, and I know that ALL students are capable of more than they ever imagined. I care about my students. My expectations are high as is my love and concern for my students. Once you walk through my office door you are my student. I will often say, “I love you and there is nothing you can do about it.”
