ACT RESCHEDULED TO OCT 16TH

Featured

ACT has officially canceled ALL October 2nd Local tests due to a breach in security and a possible compromise of the integrity of the test. Therefore, the OCT 2nd ACT at WOHS has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Oct 16th.

Students that have paid for the test will test that day. Students will need PHOTO ID (school id or driver’s license will work) AND a graphing calculator. Calculators will not be provided for the test.

ACT/SAT and PSAT

FALL ACT @ WOHS for 11th & 12th Grade students only.

Both ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships. Most colleges do not prefer one test over the other. Heres a link that breaks down the difference between the 2 tests.

Both tests are offered at testing sites across the nation. HERE IS THE ACT REGISTRATION SITE & HERE IS THE SAT REGISTRATION SITE

Students and parents need to research their preferred colleges to find out ACT/SAT requirements.  One way to do that is to go to the admissions page on the college’s website. Sometimes this takes a little digging; other times the information is readily available.  Once you figure out the required score, start planning to take a test. Register online, get a study guide and/or a tutor and begin preparing. Remember that these scores get you into a school AND help you earn scholarship money.

WOHS will offer the ACT Oct 2, 2018, and a date to be determined in Spring 2019.  We are offering the ACT without the writing portion of the test. Not all schools require the writing, please research your school’s preference.

The cost is the same as a test given at a national testing site – $50.50. Checks can be made out to WOHS and cash is preferred.

PSAT – 10th & 11th grade students only

Now the PSAT. According to Prep Scholar.com-
“As it stands, the PSAT is heavily connected to the SAT. One of the test’s primary purposes is to act as a precursor to the SAT — essentially, as an SAT practice test. Thus, the PSAT and SAT heavily mirror each other in regard to content, structure, and even scoring.

In addition to acting as a preparatory test for the SAT, the PSAT serves as a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. In other words, PSAT scores determine students’ eligibility for National Merit scholarships. Each year the top 1 percent of 11th-grade PSAT takers become Semifinalists. Of these students, 7,500 go on to win scholarship money.”

WOHS will offer the PSAT Oct 12, 2018. The cost is $16 and checks can be made out to WOHS, although cash is preferred.

Both tests offered at WOHS can be paid for in the Counselor’s office.

Attention Dual Credit Students!

You will need to park across the street Friday, September 1 due to the Shirley Atkins Volleyball Tournament. Team buses will be parking in the parking lot directly behind the main building. Remember that large vehicles need to park on the perimeter of the parking lot so that cars can park in smaller inner spaces. Parking in the back will resume Tuesday, Sept 4, 2018.
